One space or two spaces after a full stop (when typing text)?

I use two spaces after a full stop.
I was taught to touch type on an electric typewriter in the early 90’s.
I assume that people who were taught later on computers may use a single space after a full stop.
Anyone I’ve ever known that wanted two spaces after a period was being paid per page
Seriously though, you’ll wear out your space key and your thumbs 2x as fast and don’t gain anything.
I’m a pretty big fan of the use of white-space to liven up a work of prose, but I have always, and will forever, shun the double space.
edit / addendum
If you’re writing for the web, browsers won’t render a double space anyway!
Thanks @CallMeGwei,
My space bar is all shiny from overuse.
Though my worn out thumbs are from swiping on a mobile phone.
The irony is that two spaces don’t show up in the forum.
Looks like the single spacers have won
Time for us to make the change @jonathan
