Crypto Trends

A summary of the crypto trends for the week.

What’s next for Ethereum (6-12 months)

A thread on the next 6-12 months for Ethereum, including Layer 2 coming soon, ETH2 Phase 0, taxation fun and ETH1<>ETH2 bridging by R Tyler Smith.

On the question of when will ETH2 Phase 0 be launched, it is likely to be before the end of 2020. (Keep an eye on the prediction markets).

ETH1 client diversity

Geth is the dominant client in ETH1, and this isn’t great for the security of the network.
Client developer burnout is also a concern.

Piper Merriam breaks down the client diversity problem:

Credit delegation - towards under collateralized loans

Aave now allows for delegating credit. I am hoping that this we will see DeFi experiments with under collateralized loans. Long term I would like to see DeFi provide micro credit.
