Hey Defender Users,

We are preparing to upgrade Defender Actions Node Runtime Environment version from v16 to v20 on June 20th, 2024.

After that date, we will stop supporting v16 and all new actions will be using v20 runtime and related dependencies. Existing actions using v16 dependencies that are not compatible with v20 might fail and we will not be implementing any security patch, which might put your actions at risk.

As there are potential breaking changes between the two major runtime versions, we highly recommend that you test the new version to verify your code is compatible with the new v20 runtime. Once verified, complete the upgrade of your production actions by updating each action and selecting the latest runtime available, currently v2024-06-06. More information is available under the Actions Environment section in our docs.

:warning: Important note:
We introduced a breaking change in actions that import @openzeppelin/defender-sdk relay as ethers signer.

Before:

const signer = client.relaySigner.getSigner(provider, { ... });

After:

const signer = await client.relaySigner.getSigner(provider, { ... });
